Since 1987, Okanagan Stables located on Hwy 33, minutes from Kelowna on the way to Big White Resort, has been catering to riders from beginner to seasoned cowboy. From May through October choose between eight horseback riding adventures, including; trail rides, swimming with the horses, horseback riding birthday parties, and full day cattle drives. New to riding? Choose the Intro to Riding session and learn from their capable, confident staff. Learn the basics of stop, turn and go in the safety of our riding arena during these 45 minute sessions. Young children between 3 and 7 will have the safety and support of their own guide during a 30 minute session in the ring or on the trail.
Okanagan Stables’ Trail Rides follow wide meandering paths through the picturesque ponderosa pine forests the Okanagan Valley is renowned for. Beautiful Mission Creek is a popular destination for their 1.5 hour trail ride. Horseback riding adventures start at $50 for an hour trail ride, with the Mission Creek ride at $70 the most popular.
Looking for something a bit different and more adventurous? Okanagan Stables’ Ride & Swim is a unique experience that many horse owners can’t claim to have done! A warm-up trail ride is followed by a trip down to Okanagan Lake for the truly unforgettable experience of swimming a horse. Looking to channel the cowboy in you? A full day Cattle Drive is a sure way to satisfy that! The hills and open range on the west-side of Okanagan Lake set the stage for your day of hands-on cowboy work. Both of these excursions are offered seasonally and are wildly popular so book early!
